  26. Do you have a 16550 UART, or an older chip like the 8250?  If you have
  27. an 8250 then anything higher than a 9600 baud base connect speed will be
  28. problematical at best and unusable at worst.  MSD (in your DOS or
  29. Windows directories if you have them) will tell you what you have for a
  30. serial controller.  If you have an 8250 you should look into upgrading
  31. the chip itself or the serial boad (they're cheap).
